Educational Materials:

Streamflow Table - The Stream Table is a model stream containing "sediment" (sand) that reacts to flowing water similar to sediment in a real creek or river. The Stream Table accurately models active stream processes related to erosion and deposition. It can be tailored to elementary as well as high school students. The hands-on learning makes it easier to grasp concepts such as velocity, stream channelization, human impact, vegetation impacts, and best management practices.

Hoosier Riverwatch Water Quality Monitoring Test Kit - The Riverwatch monitoring kit is available to those individuals who have been through Hoosier Riverwatch training. The Madison County SWCD is a loaner site for the equipment.

Enviroscape - This interactive model can be used to demonstrate water pollution. It is a great tool to portray the complexity and importance of water quality.

Portable Water Quality Kit - The SWCD was awarded $2,500 from the White River Citizens Advisory Council for the purpose of purchasing a portable hand-held water quality kit. This kit will test parameters such as: pH, temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, Ammonia, and Nitrates. This piece of equipment is not availble for public use, however, the SWCD hopes to create a database comprised of information collected from streams throughout Madison County.
